CESG and the CPNI have released a whole load of new guidance for BYOD (Bring you own device).
There’s loads of good stuff here but in summary BYOD isn’t easy, so is it worth the effort? For example, trying to run locked down secure apps on a personal device that the user bought to play games on seems like a technology tug of war. Mixing business with pleasure through one device – that’s only going to lead to trouble.
The real issue though is not a technology one, it’s more of social one. Do we really want our employees to mix business with pleasure or should the two be separate, in life and in technology? Let’s answer that question before looking into the tech…
